Reading is important…

At Oriel we believe that reading is vitally important, which is why we invest in 2 reading programmes.

BookBuzz & Accelerated Reader

BookBuzz – Free Book!

Bookbuzz is an exciting reading programe developed by BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity.

Oriel pays for all Year 7 and 8 students to take part, giving them the chance to choose and keep a book they will love to help them get excited about reading!

Accelerated Reader

AR offers our students the ability to measure their reading range and progress towards individually set targets through a series of on-line tests and book quizzes.

We have invested in the library book stock in order to be able offer a full range of different level AR titles. Of our 13,000 items in stock, there are 3,300 titles available for loan across the full range of AR reading levels – and we are adding all the time!

Magazines

Sixth Form

As well as A level book stock, the library also holds many specific curriculum-based magazines including the complete range of Hodder Reviews featuring topical articles, cutting-edge research and brand new case studies.
